Mike, geboren am 13. August 1977 in Karl-Marx-Stadt (Deutschland), tat vieles um den Charakter zu entwickeln, den er nun besitzt.
Er arbeitete als Bestatter, Promoter, Sicherheitsbeamter, Boxtrainer, Tattoo-Künstler und lernte so eine Menge im Umgang mit Menschen.
Seit 2008 ist er nun Fotograf (Fashion, People, Hochzeit). Er bezeichnet sich selbst als Autodidakt. Das bedeutet, nicht speziell geschult oder trainiert zu sein.
Er arbeitet so, wie es ihm sein Gefühl sagt. Mit seiner Fotografie will er nicht auf einem funktionierenden Level bleiben, sonder immer neues Versuchen.
Klingt vielleicht schwer, ist es aber nicht. Er merkte ziemlich schnell, dass man schnell das wiederholt, was einmal gut geklappt hat.
Kreativität ist kein Produkt der Schule und Bildung, sondern entsteht im Kopf.

Icons of my Tribe - A Year at the Mall

“Icons of My Tribe: a Year at the Mall” is a portfolio of images that offers a troubling but (I hope) compassionate look at how we have come to celebrate our seasons and sacred occasions in that most modern house of worship – the urban shopping mall.
These images are about how sacred truths have become fearful or perhaps merely alien to us until we can experience them through a mediating layer of commerce. The redeeming light of a baby’s cry in mid -winter, the grace of being truly loved, a sacrifice upon the arrival of spring, abundance on the eve of withering cold and death -- these are some of the the difficult truths that my tribe now trembles to look upon directly. Instead we journey to a space big enough to hold us all and all our dreams, a grand place greater than our small lives and we there seek wholeness and forgiveness.
We go to atone for the inadequacy of possession that we believe has caused our fear and uncertainty -- and there we behold and worship the gods of our own craft . We go in the hope that the burnt offering of our wealth will buy us just one eternal, fulfilled, moment of peace.
